Internet Marketing 101 – If you want to see if your business or website will make you money before you invest your life’s saving in an SEO or Internet Marketing Campaign then simply start with an AdWords Campaign first. In other words if you want to save thousands of wasted SEO dollars with one piece of advice? Well, here it is: Do not start an SEO campaign for your new website or online business without an AdWords campaign first.
The reason is very simple: you could spend twelve months ranking where you want organically with the keywords you need, only to find out you have spent thousands of dollars on an idea that just doesn’t work. In other words, this process allows you to test your business model.
AdWords will be the quickest and most inexpensive way to see if your online idea or business will actually make you money. Once you know it will take off and make you money, then and only then can you start spending on a good SEO campaign.
You can establish whether or not your online strategy will work without spending thousands on an agency. Simply follow the steps below and I will guide you through the process of starting an AdWords campaign and finding keywords.
My passion for years has been internet marketing and, more specifically, SEO. One of the reasons I grew a passion for it was because I knew I didn’t want to be enslaved to Google for the rest of my life, paying for AdWords to send visitors to my websites. For some of my websites I have paid up to $30 per click or visitor to my website and at that rate you can go broke really fast.
The reason you want to be actively doing SEO for your website is to eliminate that cost. If you can have a website organically getting twenty visits a day that would normally cost you $30 per visit, then you are saving $600 a day on an AdWords campaign. Sounds basic, right?
The reason AdWords is your friend is because it will allow you to test your business idea or website in the real world. Let’s take Bob and Sue for example: they run their health retreat and now they have decided to create a new website selling yoga products. Because they know their stuff, they have all the good connections, they know the right equipment to buy, they have the best clothing, they have mats, etc. Bob gets his SEO/web design company to whip him up a pretty basic site. He doesn’t want to spend too much because he knows my rules about starting up a business. Bob and Sue are not sure if the website will actually make any money, so instead of spending thousands of dollars creating an amazing SEO campaign, they simply decide to run a two-week trial with AdWords to see how things will go first.
It is absolutely useless driving traffic to their site with a slick SEO strategy if they don’t make sales once the visitors arrive. There is no quicker way to test your online strategy than a few weeks running a Google AdWords campaign. Set a budget that you can afford to lose in case nothing comes of it, and see how you go. If it turns a profit, then you may want to consider a good, long-term SEO strategy. But if at the end of two weeks all you got were expensive visitors, then something is wrong and you need to make changes.
As an entrepreneur you need to have some understanding of how you can educate yourself online. The idea is that as you are starting off, you need to make sure that you have enough of an understanding to at least manage your SEO strategy in a productive way. But before you take that step and find a good internet marketing company, dabble with a couple of the Google tools yourself so you can get a feel for the potential traffic and visitors you could get to your site.
Because one of the best things that you can do when starting off is to build this solid foundation. Pour in all of your great ideas, and add to it all of the things that you are learning about the SEO basics and the brilliant data you are getting out of your Adwords Campaign. Once you have made a good start, and you are looking to expand, then the next step will be trying to develop your business even further, and one of the ways to do that is to consider talking to an SEO professional about how they can enhance your AdWords campaign and take your SEO campaign to a whole new level.
